Accessories

BS&B supplies many of the accessories required to safely and conveniently install our overpressure relief devices and complementary products. Through our professional team and global network of sales engineers and procurement personnel, we are able to provide the highest quality accessory products to meet your installation requirements.

Saf-T-Change Quick Disk Replacement (QDR)

After activation, the replacement disk is quickly slid into place. Saving hours of lost production due to blown rupture disks.

Tell-Tale Assemblies & Excess Flow Valves/Gauges

A gauge tap in the outlet flange of the safety head may be considered when the safety head is installed in a vertical position.

Spare Safety Heads & Cap Screws

Jackscrews

When activated, the jackscrews effectively separate the flanges, providing adequate clearance to remove or insert a safety head and external gaskets.

Lifting Lug Eye Bolts

Eye bolts are recommended when weight and/or accessibility is a factor in lifting safety heads.

Baffle Plate

When a safety head is free-vented to atmosphere, a baffle plate may be considered to disperse overpressure and absorb recoil.

Overview

The RB-90 Rupture Disk (Bursting Disc) has four razor sharp blades that cut the disk into four equal segments without fragmentation. No process contamination by metal. The RB-90 Rupture Disk (Bursting Disc) enables systems to be operated at pressures up to 90% of the tagged burst pressure ... as compared to a maximum of 70 to 80% for tension loaded solid metal and composite disks.

RB-90™ Rupture Disk (Bursting Disc) Material Options

The RB-90™ Rupture Disk (Bursting Disc) is available in a range of corrosion resistant materials. Standard disk materials are Nickel alloy 200, Stainless Steel grade 316, Inconel® (Nickel alloy 600), Monel® (Nickel alloy 400) & Aluminum. All standard disks are available with 0%, 5%, and 10% manufacturing ranges.

Product Buildup is Reduced

RB-90™ Rupture Disk (Bursting Disc) resist product buildup. Only the smooth convex side is exposed to system contents. The vacuum support under a conventional disk has an irregular surface which tends to allow a much faster product buildup. The use of RB-90 disks therefore cut maintenance costs by greatly extending the length of time between Safety Head disassemblies for cleaning. RB-90™ Rupture Disk (Bursting Disc) metals are thicker than those used in conventional solid disks of the same size and pressure rating, so vacuum supports are not required. The RB-90™ Rupture Disk (Bursting Disc) can also withstand high back pressure without damage.

Installation in RB-90™ Safety Head

RB-90™ Safety Heads require pre-assembly of reverse buckling disk in RB-90™ flanges to assure proper seating. Standard RB-90™ Safety Heads inlet and outlet flanges are flatfaced. Ring joint, raised face and tongue-and-groove facings are available. Standard knife blade material is heat treated stainless steel.
